Description: | Berghahn Books is seeking a part-time publishing intern for 2 days a week in its DUMBO-Brooklyn office. Assignments will span both Books and Journals and involve assisting with a variety of tasks.
Main tasks and responsibilities include: Journals: Providing research help for various sales and marketing initiatives Providing administrative support for subscription-related matters Mocking up Calls for Papers as and when needed Updating various production and budget-related spreadsheets Books Production: Submitting CIP applications to Library of Congress Gathering artwork materials for cover designers Adding titles to Berghahn books database Organizing in-office archives |
Length of Internship: | 2023 Spring semester |
Requirements: | The ideal candidate is a responsible and detail-oriented person who can handle multiple projects in a small-firm environment with minimal supervision. As an independent press, this position will offer a great opportunity to learn many facets of the publishing process through its exposure to different departments. In particular, it will offer a range of insights for anyone still deciding on which publishing path to take.
Only those candidates seeking fulfillment of academic credit will be considered. We are happy to work with your institution to meet any specific credit needs. We are looking for a student who can commit to the Spring 2023 semester (early January–May/June), with the possibility of an extension. Start date flexible depending on the student. |
